February 16th - The Ice Breaker 500 marked the first Junior Honda race of Blaze's career. With it being the weekend before his 6th birthday, we all had high hopes. If we could make it to the A Main we would call it a successful weekend. Preferably by qualifying in the top four and not having to race in through the B Main.
Qualifying didn't go as well as we would have liked. The car was uncontrollably loose for most of the run. Blaze spun out on his second warm up lap and couldn't recover. We ended up qualifying 7th which put us in the B Main.
The B Main started a little rough. While trying to pass on the first lap, Blaze and another car got together and sent Blaze into the infield. Blaze started in the rear and had to come back through the field. After a somewhat daring move on the last lap, Blaze finished 3rd. We were in the A Main.
At the start of the A Main, there was a wreck coming out of turn two. Blaze went low to miss it which put him in 6th. On the restart he passed one more car and except for a few charges for 4th place, was there until the last lap when he had a little trouble and ended up 7th.
Blaze surpassed all of our expectations. He drove aggressively but for the most part kept his nose clean and made smart moves. We are very proud of him for a very successful weekend. Congratulations to Dylan Fetcho on his win in the first annual Icebreaker 500.
March 1st - It was another good day for Blaze in his first Jr. Honda points race. After having almost no practice since the Icebreaker, Blaze picked right up where he left off, being a little more aggressive yet making smart decisions. He started 3rd in his heat race and finished 4th. He had a little trouble getting lined up in the main and fell back to 5th on the start. He ran there for most of the race and made a late race pass to finish 4th. We are very proud of Blaze for the progress he is making. He has a lot to learn but he is learning fast. Congratulations to Rylee Loveday on her first Jr. Honda win.
March 15th - Racing always has it's tough days and this proved to be one for Blaze. He started 4th in his heat race and held tough for a while before being moved out of the groove and relegated to 7th place. With a poor starting spot in the main, we were hopeful that Blaze could move his way up but it just didn't work out that way. Hopefully we can use this day in a positive way and learn from it. Congratulations to Dillon Vaupel on his Jr Honda win.
March 22nd - We visited Riverview Speedway and it was a blast. Blaze and friends got to talk to a lot of new kids about their racecars and then they got out on the high banks for a few laps. Thank you Riverview Speedway for having us.
March 29th - Our first race at Metro Atlanta and our first regional race away from home. Qualifying was not kind to Blaze for this race but boy did he make up for it in the mains. He qualified 17th overall which put him in the E Main. Blaze drove his heart out trying to make it to the A main. He made a couple last lap moves in the E to finish 4th (credited with 5th, but we know better) He started last in the D and came through the pack to win. 5th was the starting spot for the C main and Blaze came up 2nd at the finish. After starting 6th in the B main, with ten laps to go, he made contact with Matthew Green while racing for 3rd. The wreck resulted in too much damage to continue. Blaze didn't make the A main but he sure put on a show that he and many people watching won't forget. Congratulations to Alex Murray for his Region 3 Jr. Honda win. (photos)
April 5th - Today was an up and down day. The Jr. Honda car is still proving to be a challenge. We had handling problems all day to bring us home to a 4th place finish. Congratulations to Rylee Loveday on her second Jr. Honda win at Music City. The up side to the day was our first try at Jr. Stock. We had some problems getting it started but after a battle with Cody Duke, Blaze brought home the win.
April 12th - After a fierce battle with Cameron Madison, Blaze was able to bring the Kong home to a third place finish in the Jr. Honda main. Congratulations to Dylan Fetcho on his second win of the season. It was another battle to the end in the Jr. Stock main, only with a new face. Blaze was able to hang on in front of Carter Hollowell to put up his second victory in a row.
July 5th - Blaze made a qualifying run in Jr. Stock and put up a new track record of 7.462 and then went on to win his 4th A-Main in a row. That added to a great 3rd place run in Jr. Honda, Blaze had a great day at the Summer Blowout.
